No problems on either of my accounts. Have you checked the
status page?
http://status.supernews.com/

Also try the account manager:

Thanks for your reply. At least I know its not completely dead. Are you on
the east or west coast?

I checked the status page and it says nothing. The account manager does not
say much. I have downloaded 500Megs, but with a 10Gig tier, its not a useage
problem. It says my email address is not verified, and when I try to verify
it, it says "There was a problem sending the verification email. Please try
again later. We apologise for the inconvenience.".

I also sent an email message to ***@supernews.com but the site docs say
they are only available 9-5 monday thru friday or somesuch. They basically
went home some time ago.

Looks like you're SOL until Monday then. However have you
tried asking in the supernews.general newsgroup? Some of the
tech and admin people hang out in there and they might be
able to push buttons or pull levers before then.

<SNIPPAGE>

If your account is listed as active on the Account Manager page, your
account is active, and what Andrew said is most likely the case
(something local to you).

What error message(s) are you getting? The exact text, if you have
it, is preferred.

If you can reach the website, then try the traceroute page and post the
results here... (see http://www.supernews.com/trace/ )

The servers are up and traffic levels on all of our network links are normal,
so whatever problem you're having is likely to be local to you.

Gents;

Thank you for your support.

Knowing all the servers are up with lots of traffic and links are normal is
a major piece of information

My error message is not that informative. "Unable to connect to the
server".

Under details
Configuration:

Account: news.supernews.com
Address: localhost << uh oh this looks interesting.

My yproxy died and is not restarting on reboot. This is the problem. I
am not running yproxy on my dialup news server. Only on supernews.

Problem solved. It is something local. Thank you for your contributions.
